Our Mission:
The Ricardo Flores Magón Academy prepares Kindergarten through eighth grade students from a multitude of communities in Metro Denver for success in high school and graduation from college. In an academically rigorous environment, students will master the core subjects maximizing their knowledge in math, reading, and writing.
The Ricardo Flores Magón Academy (RFMA) first opened its doors August 20, 2007. We decided to locate our school in South Adams for the very specific reason that area test scores were low, there was a high drop out rate, and very few students were attending college. We are a free K-8 College Preparatory Public Charter School, and the following are a list of RFMA highlights that distinguish us from most other schools in the state of Colorado:
-All of our students, including kindergarteners, attend school from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
-We have a free full-day academic kindergarten.
-We over 200 minutes of literacy instruction everyday.
-All students receive instruction in literacy, phonics, writing, math, science, and social studies.
-93% of our students are free and reduced lunch.
-80% of our students are classified as English Language Learners.
-We have daily tennis and chess lessons.
-We are the only public tennis academy in the United States.
-We will stay with our students through high school and college by providing them tutoring, mentoring, and scholarship opportunities.
-We provide uniforms for all of our students.
-From day one, all of our students know that they are being prepared for college and beyond.

RFMA currently offers a traditional academic day from 8:10 AM to 5:00 PM. To compliment our standard academic schedule and to ensure that all of our students are prepared for college, RFMA also currently offers the following:
- a full-day academic kindergarten program
- an extended day program
- an extended year program
- before and after school tutoring program
- winter/spring/summer academic academies
- The RFMA Tennis program
- The RFMA Chess program
While RFMA is a kindergarten through 8th Grade program, the school offers tutoring, mentoring and scholarship opportunities to students through high school and college. Combining these activities with the basic educational components provides RFMA students with the opportunities to develop the valuable social and academic skills necessary to put them on, and keep them on, the path to college. |
